Guys making a new PC for work and casual gaming mostly no more than 10 hours a week or so.

My work mostly includes use of Word, Excel, Power Point, PDF viewing, Photoshop & Lightroom. Few other softwares here and there. Nothing heavier like 3ds or video editing as of now etc.

Games I usually like or play
Counter Strike 1.6
CS: GO
Need For Speed Series
Call of Duty Series
Battlefield Series

I would like to keep the MB and Processor for atleast 4-5 years. Gfx can be changed very 2-3 years depending upon games but I dont think i would need it.

Config I am looking at is below:

CPU: Core i5 4460
RAM: 16 GB Corsair Vengeance
HDD: 3TB WD HDD will add SSD later on
PSU: Corsair 80+ PSU 550W
CPU Cooler: Corsair EVO 212 CPU Cooler
Graphics Card: Gfx R7 260x or 750 Ti

Confused between which board to choose from. Would like to stick with ASUS but open to Gigabyte options.

Things i require in a board:
I need HDMI and VGA port
4 SATA Ports which supports SATA 2 and 3
1 PCI for GFX card
Usual 4-6 USB ports
Audio
2-3 Chassis Fans

I was looking at Z97 from Asus but i dont think it makes sense as I am not going to upgrade the processor for a few years, and the processor is locked. Came down looking at H97 series and then bumped into cheaper B85 which can run Haswell Refresh after bios update.

I would like to know how much difference will it make in terms of performance, heating etc between H97 Plus and H97 Pro Gamer other than extra ports and features.

Same for B85, can i just save money and go for B85M or E instead of Gamer. Does Gamer offr more performance and less heat >

My room temperature is usually high around 7 months a year appx 100-110F.

Thanks

I already have a case and SSD, but the SSD is being used in my laptop to make things faster for the old workhorse. That Gigabyte offering is tempting, has more features than ASUS.

Though still doesn't answer my question whether to opt for Gamer edition or go for basic. Does Gigabyte B85 Gaming offers more performance for the price ?

Xeon is better than the I5 for lightroom and photoshop!

I'd go H97 personally if you wanted a performance benefit.
