Hello guys, I am trying to build a new computer for gaming/recording/editing/rendering. Not professionally, just for home use.

I have built a PC before, AMD fx 6350, 8GB ram, gtx 770. Unfortunately someone stole my computer and now I am left with an old laptop.

So I have roughly 1000-1200 pounds to spend. I like big cases with a lot of cable management room like the corsair 750D or the Air 540 (which is what I had before). Ideally I want an Intel hex-core :D. I prefer to have room for improvement, so maybe a really good cpu +gpu and no SSD and low ram at the start.

Thank you guys for helping me out :)

I mean 8GB is enough for 1080p rendering right? No I have a second monitor and OS. I will probably buy a cheap 10-20 pound keyboard.

I was thinking of I7 5820k, the Xeon processors seem really expensive.

This should do the job admirably, and you still have plenty of room in you budget to splurge on more.

I like the build but I have some questions. For the ram is it better to get 4x4GB or 2x8GB and then have room for upgrade?
Should I not buy an SSD for now and put that money towards corsair 750D? I am not the best with cable management, so if I can throw everything to the back that would be easier. Last question, how long do you think the gtx 970 is going to last before needing an upgrade?

X99 is quad channel. You lose bandwidth going with 2x8gb. The Enthoo Pro has great cable management, hence my choice. GTX 970 is one of the top cards, right now. Anything faster is a good deal more expensive, and overkill for 1080p. You can always add another later. ;)

Prefer if it was black, everything in the case is black.
