I'm looking to buy a GTX 970 which will be used almost entirely for gaming.

I'm thinking about buying a Palit graphic card (as I prefer its looks).

How much difference in FPS do the brand of card have?

Solution

I personally know a owner of a Palit GTX 970 and he says it is running fine and i believe the overclocking is also great. Also ive read a review on a Palit GPU and it received some positive feedback so i would say you should purchase it!

:D

Update: Also the brand makes very minimal difference it is really luck sometimes, even though its the same brand some people get cards that are harder to overclock and some overclock...

Very little, some more expensive factory-overclocked cards may have better binned chips allowing for better overclocks, but other than that the quality of the cooler on the card is the biggest difference between different cards.

Well, it's less about a specific brand. It's more about their individual board designs and cooler designs.

One of my favorites for overclocking is the Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 970. I've had excellent results with it and it has a great cooler. But it a larger card and may not fit in all cases.

EVGA SSC 970 with the ACX 2.0 cooler is also very good and sticks to reference PCB size. So while it may not OC as high as the Gigabyte G1, it will fit into more cases.

Very often the performance margin is so small it won't really matter.

Update: Also the brand makes very minimal difference it is really luck sometimes, even though its the same brand some people get cards that are harder to overclock and some overclock better than others. Its less to do with brand but some also say that cards that have a higher base overclock's overclock result in a higher overall overclock. I believe this is true in some cases because the cards with a higher base overclock are usually the ones with a custom PCB designed specially for the needs of a higher base clock which usually means its better than the reference PCB thus resulting in a higher overclock!

Most GTX970 cards have the exact same pcb, made by the same company, namely Nvidia.

Vendors differentiate their products by using fancy aftermarket coolers.
They also bin the chips and select the best ones for factory overclocks that sell for more.

If you live in the US, consider EVGA which has a very good support structure and forum.

In the end, all will perform very similarly, so take your pick.

If your case does not have good airflow, look for a card with a blower cooler that sends the heat directly out the back.
Fan type coolers depend on case airflow to get rid of heat.
