Hey guys,
A few days ago I noticed a program named "cgminer.exe" was present in my list of active tasks, I ended it because I didn't know what is was, but seconds later the task is reactivated again and again and again making it impossible to permanently terminate it.
So I ran a full-scan wtih Malwarebytes and it detected the .exe file and deleted it, aswell as the entire folder it was in. Problem is, the folder is recreated, aswell as the .exe file and everything goes back to as it was before.
Please, how can I get rid of this virus.
- Thanks

Find the process folder, end the process, delete the folder while the process is ended. If that doesn't work, rename the .exe in the folder to whatever else, like .txt or something. Those are the simple solutions, for more in depth stuff you'll need to find more specifics about that process and where it hides in the registry.

well, quick googling about it says it's browser addon/malware/helperobject/trojan/stuff.

Generally it seems that it can be taken care of by both malwarebytes and probably ccleaner
www.malwarebytes.org
www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download

the more dreadful note is that it seems to be mostly served with pirated software/cracks/stuff which of course can ALSO redownload it all as soon as re-run, you see the problem here?

If it keeps returning then you more than likely have other programs running that keeps installing it back. You should first go to control panel and Uninstall feature and get rid of the programs you didn't install. It would be easier to sort by DATE.

You could look for any new add-ons or extension on your browser.

Also, install a Startup Manager and look to see what items are starting up on boot.
