Hello J1ocks,

Even when building a PC on tight budget, you should get the parts that gives you great future upgrade option and at the same time satisfies your current needs.

Keeping that in mind, let me suggest you the best price to performance value oriented build. Just hold I'm working on it. Will update this section once I've finalized the part list.

Update:

Consider this:

Notes:

- The Intel G3258 is a budget gaming beast, which can be overclocked anywhere between 4.4-4.7Ghz.

- The Z97 chipset based motherboard supports the G3258 Haswell Refresh CPU right out of the box without any need for BIOS update. Also allows to overclock the processor up to 4.7Ghz without any need for third party CPU cooling solution. The default CPU cooler that comes with the processor will do a fine job.

- The Gigabyte GA-Z97-HD3 provides you great future upgrade option like installing any Haswell/Haswell Refresh i3/i5/i7 processors or any Broadwell Processor (successor to Haswell/Haswell Refresh) after BIOS update.

- The R7 260X pretty good mid range GPU capable to play any modern games with medium/high graphical fidelity @720/1080p resolutions. It performs on par with GTX 750 Ti, if not above.

- GPU WAR: GTX 750 Ti vs. R7 260X in 18 Modern Games - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLAfQQPLOoRHDkKthGcrVa4eZtzUAvvgdw

- The R7 260X only require a 450W PSU that can deliver 19Amps or more on its +12V rail.

- The EVGA 80+ Certified 500W PSU can deliver 40Amps on its +12V rail, which is more than enough to power this rig. This PSU also enables you to upgrade in future mid/high-end graphics cards like NVIDIA GTX 960/970, AMD R7 370/R9 270/270X/380 etc.

- Keep in mind that this build comes with $50 "mail-in-rebates".

Base Total: $482.30
Mail-in Rebates: -$50.00
Shipping: $1.99
Total: $434.29

Overall a pretty solid build that offers great price to performance value with amazing future upgrade options.

Cheers!

Slightly more $, yet Z97 motherboard for OC and future upgrade (i5,i7). You can manage to fit it in 400$, with h81 board.

i would rather have a quad core processor so that builds above are nice try to get a 270 280 370 or 380 and a athlon x4 860k best choice its more future proof and most games today need quad core soo :)
