Hi, there is a local school about 6.6 kilometers from my home. there are some trees and obstacles in the way. is there any device that could go that distace to pick up the wifi that is given from the school? as cheap as possible? if you need any other information , please ask.
thanks

You are thinking about this backwards.
Its not how far the device can go to "read" the signal, although it does have a small significance, this is not your major concern.
Its all about how far the access point can broadcast the signal outwards.
6 kilometers is a ridiculously huge, huge distance to expect WIFI to reach, when the average WIFI signal is only good for 50-150 feet max through walls, and around 300 feet outside with no obstructions.
You can buy WIFI repeaters/extenders to extend the range, but you would need a whole bunch of them, and each one will lose up to 50% of the original signal strength, so thats not going to do you any good either at that range.
