Intel i5 4690 vs AMD FX 9590/9370

I'd like to know which one is best for gaming , and give some opinions to justify which one is the best, thanks.

The price you pay for a FX 9590/9370 with a decent 990FX motherboard and a decent cpu cooler is not worth it . You most likely can get the i5 4690k with a Z97 motherboard and a cpu cooler at the same price.
The i5 will most likely pull ahead in most of the games.

Also the AMD has virtually no OC headroom, the 4690k can be OC'd by 10 to 20% for even more performance

You will pay more money for a 9xxx series cpu, cooler and motherboard then any i5 or xeon setup that will be much faster.

In current games the i5 beats out anything AMD makes.
Intel cpu's have a more efficient architecture so apples to apples they perform significantly better.
Now AMD's 8XXX and 9XXX CPUs are 4 physical/8 logical core cpus so they are like an i7 or Xeon in total threads/processes. Currently only a select few games are coded to use more then 4 cores/threads so the advantage the AMD has over an i5 is irrelevant and thus the 4 stronger cores of the i5 beats it hands down.
In the future this might change and then the AMD might pull ahead of the i5 which is now more of an apples to oranges comparison. But when you match it up against a Xeon or i7 which has 8 threads as well (apples to apples), those cpu's (even with a lower clock speed) will beat the AMD.

Sorry for the long explanation but that sums up how the stack up now and in the future.

FX 9xxx costs more electricity to run, costs more to make it run the way it's meant to be (aftermarket cooler, proper AM3+ motherboard), and gets beaten by midrange i5's.

Fx 8350/9590's however have eight true cores, packaged in four modules. Their approach to SMT was other than intels and it didn't work out quite as well.

Other than that, any haswell I5 dominates anything amd currently has to offer.
