My laptop for some reason gets random ping spikes on certain networks. When Im connected to my home network and my work network I get the ping spikes, but not at my friend's house or anywhere else. Ive tried everything from updating my wireless card drivers to turning off avast. I cant figure out what is causing this issue. My laptop is the only thing affected. One thing that might be causing the issue, but im not sure what to do about is that when i connect to my wifi, it says it cant connect, then when i hit cancel, its connected. I still get random ping spikes. HELP!

My laptop is a lenovo yoga 2 w/ a realtek rtl8723a
My router is an asus rt-ac68u
Im running windows 8.1
My driver version is 1025.1.423.2013

When did you get the yoga 2 pro? (By the way I just recently purchased one and love it).

The older builds of it had a crappy wifi chip in it.
The newer ones have a later build of intel 7260 in it and it is much more stable and better performance.

If you have one of the older ones then the best solution is to replace the wifi chip

I got mine in 2013. Would that mean that mine has a crappy chip. And note, i have a yoga 2, not the pro, just the regular yoga 2. And how would i replace the wifi chip?

That age would be the crappy, but I am not sure if the normal yoga 2 had that issue or not.

A different wifi chip though would help.

You will have to remove all of the bottom screws and take it apart.
Changing it is easy, its just getting down to where it is at is the time consuming part.
Once there you just carefully pull the antenna lead cables off (literally just pull up on the metal of the connector, its a snap type of connector), then unscew it and lift it out of the socket. Then put the new on in.
