Using a 1TB seagate external hard drive on my desktop. It has been working fine for about 6 months on my new desktop computer, but it has started to stop working intermittently. It has gotten to the point where if I plug it in after I restart my computer it works for several minutes than stops, and it no longer is listed under my computer or device manager. Plugging it into another USB ports does not work, I have to restart the computer and again it will stop working in several minutes, although the light on the hard drive is still on.
When I plug the hard drive into my laptop it works perfectly, which leads me to believe something is happening to my newer desktop. But I have updated all the drivers and it has had no effect. Any suggestions?

Hi there Goza377,

This sounds like a bad/loose USB ports related issue. Are all these four ports on the front panel of the computer case?
One thing you can try is to connect the drive to the ports on the back of the case. They are directly attached to the MOBO.

Cheers,
