Hi. My PC laptop had its hard drive corrupted recently, so I decided to replace the hard drive and reinstall windows from a usb instead of just buying a new one. The setup went smoothly, but as soon as I entered the lock screen the fan has been spinning at probably the maximum capacity for no reason. It is very loud and has been doing this for about 10 minutes, which has never happened before. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

My specs are:
vaio E series laptop with intel core i7 2.20 gghz
16 gb ram
win 8.1
64 bit compatible cpu
intel hd graphics 4000
500 gb hdd

Ok, is it still under warranty? You could try asking sony support directly or check their website if they have any specific solutions (http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/select-system.pl?model_type_group_id=10). Also check this thread on Sony site (https://community.sony.com/t5/VAIO-Software-Other-Operating/my-VAIO-laptop-s-fan-is-very-noisy/m-p/139915#M6925).

Ok I checked for dust and downloaded HW monitor. All of the temps are within good range and everything seems to be running fine. I really don't think this is a component problem since it was working fine up until I reinstalled OS. It must be something related to the sensors not collaborating well with new windows.

That's why I was asking about the drivers. Did you download the drivers from the manufacturer or directly from intel btw (for chipset and graphics)?
