Hi Guys,

Been trying to search relevant information about expansion drives not showing on BIOS but it turned out to be null, I hope somebody could point me on the right direction how to go about understanding this external device and how I can make it viewable on my boot device list on BIOS/UEFI of my Lenovo ideapad y500.

Using this device the first time i definitely know that it wouldn't need any driver as seagate specified that it would work among popular OSes out of the box, im using windows 8.1 single language by the way it was the stock OS that came with my Laptop, but to be precise I updated it to 8.1. So the expansion disk definitely worked and it was seamless transferring large files as it was USB 3.0 which is really nice, but recently i have been playing with acronis true image 2015 and so part of it is trying to recreate the event of restoring on my laptop a full disk image with those large .tib files saved on my expansion disk. The expansion disk is given the drive E on windows file explorer and definitely is working as intended though when I tried to recover my laptop upon using an acronis bootable media device, searching for the .tib files was a failure, apart from the network file transfer protocols there where 3 drives listed which is C D E . I confirmed that C is my primary partition, D is my extended partition and E was the acronis bootable media device which is a transflash 4GB USB device, no matter what I do reconnect it to a different port USB 2 or 3 and switching it on and off by means of reconnecting the adapter to the wall socket, it doesn't seem to resolve on the list of devices wherein I can pull out the .tib file, the expansion disk is not listed. I tried rebooting the laptop on BIOS and on Boot section i found out that the expansion disk is not being listed as well, meaning the culprit after all was that it was not being listed at Boot time either. Is this a limitation of the Seagate Expansion desktop SCSI device? or is there anyway I can utilize this external drive as a means of my main backup drive in the process of recovery , if so how would i be able to relist it on Boot devices list on BIOS or rather be recognized by my machine as a disk device before loading into windows (ie acronis true image 2015 on bootable media listing backup (.tib) locations across all disks)

I have located the exact model and specs of my laptop and storage device in the links below, If there is any information I have missed declaring please let me know,

the expansion desktop disk is registering as 1.8 TB though. Are you talking about the totality of the connected disks in the system? My internal hard disk is 900GB + transflash 4GB + 1.8TB = more than 2TB

Im not Booting an application on the expansion desktop disk Just the .tib backup files itself which acronis true image needs to be able to restore my system, but the thing is its not listed anywhere on Boot section on my BIOS/UEFI making me believe that thats the main reason the drive is not showing up for me on the acronis true image software from the bootable media (transflash 4GB)

just to make things clear you're saying that -- 1.there is nothing wrong with my expansion desktop disk not showing on bootable devices list on BIOS/UEFI, and 2. Acronis bootable should be able to find it.

In that case if that is all correct this means acronis true image 2015 bootable media software is the culprit of this issue? cause as I have stated on the original post that the expansion disk is not listed anywhere on the acronis true image 2015 bootable media

"apart from the network file transfer protocols there where 3 drives listed which is C D E .
