I have been trying to figure this out for a while now, but what is the difference between something like a gtx750 (lower end) - http://pcpartpicker.com/part/msi-video-card-n7501gd5oc - and an XFX Radeon R9 280 (higher end) - https://pcpartpicker.com/part/xfx-video-card-r9280atdfd - apart from the fact that one has 3gb gddr5 and the other has 1gb gddr. why are the prices so far apart, they both have about 1ghz core clock and 5000mhz memory clock
thanks in advance any help much appreciated!!!!!

ok... so i am in need of getting a graphics card, and when i am looking up graphics cards, what do i look for to know if it has a better/worse architecture

i have been looking at lots of benchmarks and it does help me a ton see which cards are better, i just want to know if there are any written specs that can also show which cards are better. does it have something to do with CUDA Cores and Stream Processors because the gtx750 has 512 CUDA Cores and the r9 has 1792 Stream Processors also what do the things like Kepler mean do they have something to do with it? thanks i know im probably annoying

They can impact certain forms of performance, some rendering for example can benefit from CUDA cores and so on.
However, these specs still rely upon the GPU itself to dictate full performance. If two cards have the same GPU, and different clock speeds, then straight specs could be compared.
Nothing wrong with asking questions, im here to help :D

ok thanks a lot! :D i kinda understand it now but i still have couple questions, so basically what is the difference between the gpu and the entire video card, and how do i find out what the gpu is, and which GPUs are good and which are bad

Ah ok i get it! that makes a lot of sense, so basically you just have to look at the benchmarks for each gpu to see which is better? kinda like the difference between an intel i7 and i3? that helped me a lot thanks a ton!
