I have a dell xps 400 that i purchased for $20. The psu gets rather warm when playing flight simulator X (which runs great on high settings....about 50 fps). I changed the stock graphics to a GeForce
I would like to know if i could run the PC on a 300W psu...Its a 2 year old HP psu made by liteon.
I understand the heat may be normal but the Psu is 10 years old and i dont want to risk it anymore. here are the rest of the specs....

Pentium D 820
A Western Digital LAPTOP hdd that consumes >5w
120 mm cpu fan (stock)
92mm front intake fan (stock)
Thanks in advance!

what gpu did you put in? still only runs off pcie slot of does it need extra power? this really will determine what psu is needed. if it is a basic gpu that only uses the mobo for power, then the 300w psu should be fine for the system. if the gpu needs more power, then the 300w won't be enough for the whole system.

Sorry for the really long delay in response. The GPU is a GT610..... I tried the psu a while back and it ran for about 30 seconds then POP and the PSU burned out..... it was an old Hp psu made by light on so it really was no big loss. Thanks for the reply.
