Which device are you trying to connect? Assuming you are using a usb or external drive:
The blue connector fits in a usb 3.0 slot (which is a blue USB port) and the white one fits in a usb 2.0 slot (white USB port on computer), that's where to connect them
USB 3.0 is also much faster than USB 2.0
