Hi, I want to ask for an opinion in upgrading my gaming rig to play current and future games. I bought/build my rigs on 2011 with tight budget and luckily still perform on most game, some latest games I can only play on medium setting, but games like skyrim have no issue playing at full setting. Here is my current build,

CPU : Intel i3 2100 3.1 GHz
GPU : ASUS GeForce GT440 1GB DDR3
Mobo : Intel DH61WW DDR3
RAM : Kingston KVR1333D3N9 / 4G
HDD : Western Digital Cavier Green 1TB
Case : Powerlogic Armageddon AK3 Class Gaming Case
PSU : Powerlogic Magnum 275 - Max 550W (Integrated with casing)

My budget for the upgrade is about $500 and is looking to change to AMD 8320 with GPU Radeon R9 280. For the others, should I change or just add such as RAM?

Thanks in advance and sorry for my english because it is only my 3rd language.

The RAM should be upgraded to 8 GB total. Plan to buy a new 4 x 2 GB kit as adding to existing RAM frequently does not work out.

An FX8320 is a reasonable choice, but it will require a new MB. You may be better off with an i5-3470 that is a quad core part, still available, and compatible with your MB.

The two cpu's are closely matched in performance.

The R9 280 is a good choice for your budget.

Thanks for the input, will definitely take it into consideration. Butq it because it is capable of being OC. I am actually worry if my rig cannot run the next gen games smoothly..

and as i am from malaysia, the price will be a little higher due to money exchange and shipping cost. But i still have 1 month for my shopping, so might be thinking of buying from oversea.(if its cheaper).
