Bios update help

I'm going to purchase a new 4th Gen i7 4790k processor. The motherboard I have is an asus h87 plus. The bios verison I need is 2001 but if i update to the latest which is 2003 will it have the 2001 included? I'm not sure if I should download the latest or not.. is it better off just updating only to 2001?

get the latest bios if it's not too much trouble. [strike]updates won't damage the previous versions.[/strike]

the i7 4790k has been supported since ver. 2001, so shouldn't be a problem.

Okay thanks I wasn't sure if the update included that since the file size was smaller then the 2001 update

it'll likely overwrite the older version with the new one. follow the bios update procedures properly, shouldn't be any issues. make sure your pc doesn't shutdown in the middle of the update process.

edit: bios is a flash chip on your motherboard. for updating, this chip needs to be completely erased and then new bios is written on the chip.
