So many things wrong... I don't know what to do.

My friend and I were building a PC. After a few days of an insane amount of hardware issues (possibly due to the fact stuff was plugged in wrong because after unplugging everything and trying again we actually got to the point where the computer would beep tones telling us more problems... after that it was relatively smooth I guess), we got to problems with the software.

We bought a brand new copy of Windows 8.1, the first issue that we encountered was Windows 8 being stuck in a restart loop at the end of the installation (we fixed that by changing some value in the registry to 3, we saw that here). Then after the system preferences were all set and we got to the desktop, werfault.exe and wermgr.exe started throwing out a bunch of errors (we thought we fixed this by turning the error report off but it came back up recently a few times). Then after that we installed what drivers Windows Device manager showed and went to Nvidia and AMD to get drivers for the graphics card and CPU (I'm not sure these installed correctly because the internet browsers and any other downloaded programs we got while the internet was working for a brief moment stopped working, basically Steam, Skype, IE, and Firefox are constantly crashing, popping up errors, such as werfault.exe.), there are also times when Windows itself just crashes without any explanation (just a generic Windows has encountered an error and needs to restart... it doesn't post anything to the event report even).

There are a few other things we did or errors we got like "bsvcprocessor has stopped working", something about access violation when trying to use Skype, we also did a Windows memory diagnostic and it said it encountered some errors when we did that (we don't know what that means though). Right now we are trying to install the 119 important updates in Windows through the updater, but we aren't having a lot of luck with that right now (first it didn't look like the updates were even trying to download and then it said all the updates finished and restarted the computer when none of the updates actually downloaded and for some reason Skype is working now for a bit, and IE is working just not on the homepage). This is not something that we can Google, if we could we wouldn't be here.

This the hardware we used (it was all newly bought except for hard drive, also the power supply is not "clicked into" the motherboard but it like less than a mm from being snapped into place.)

Display Adaptater: Nvidia Geforce GTX 750
Network Adapter: D-Link DWA-556 Xtreme N PCIe Desktop Adapter
Processor: AMD FX8370e 8-Core
PSU: Corsair CX850M
Ram: PNY DDR3 8GB (2x4GB) 1333MHz (PC3-10666) CAS 9 1.5V PC
Motheboard: MSI 970 Gaming Edition.

EDIT: We almost made success with Windows Update, but after it seemed like everything was good it said "windows could not complete the updates undoing changes" (the error code was 80073712).

EDIT 2: We looked up the error code and found a possible solution on the window's support forum and followed it.

EDIT 3: That fixed the first error... now we have this as we try and download these windows updates "Fatal error c000000d applying update operation 88028 of 199840".

EDIT 4: Can no longer reach desktop, stuck in loop due to error above... can't reach minidump now.

EDIT 5: My friend is starting over and doing the clean install of Windows 8.1 again... will update with everything we come across.
