Hello, I am in the process of building my first PC. I think I followed all of the instructions but I wouldn't be suprised if I messed up somewhere. When I press the power button it immediately says "reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key." I looked it up and found out that this was an error but couldn't figure out how to fix it. I connected the optical drive and to the MOBO with a sata cable and connected it to the sata3 connector and did the same with the hard drive. Could someone tell me what causes this problem and how I could fix it. thanks here are the parts I'm using

Hey there, have you installed windows on the hard drive?

Do you know how to access your bios settings? It is usually the esc or del key after booting

Once you've gotten into the bios, go to the boot tab.
Do you see your hard drive there? If you do, set it to the top of the boot prioirty list.

If not: locate the sata configuration option and set it from IDE to AHCI mode
Note that there could possibly be a setting where you must press enter on to auto detect your hard drive.
Save the settings and reboot.
