NZXT S340 Motherboard Stand Off Screws Not Working (Too Loose?)

I just purchased an White NZXT S340 case about a week ago. I didn't have time to assemble the case until today. I already had a current case however I liked the design of the S340 so I went ahead and purchased one. Anyways, today as I was mounting the brass motherboard stand off screws (from my old case) and onto the new NZXT case, the screw seemed like it didn't tighten. After a few tries, it was still loose. I looked at the screws and tried inserting a number of other stand off screws and that did not work either. I checked my box to see if they came with any stand off screws and I only found ONE.... Now my question is, is the case defective or the screws not compatible? I have not contacted Newegg or NZXT because they were both closed at the time I tried calling.

Any replies are much appreciated. Thank you.

The manual for your case, on the first page, has a list of included components. Item G is EIGHT Stand-off screws with 6-32 threads; Item H is ONE separator of similar design. Supposedly both of these are already INSTALLED in the case. Item I is a small wrench (like a knurled knob) in the accessory box to be used for moving the standoffs.

So, if you don't have all those, the case is faulty and you should contact NZXT.

Look closely at the one stand-off you say you have. A stand-off has on its top surface a drilled and threaded hole. The one "separator" that is supposed to be there does not - it appears to have a plastic dome sticking up, as if it is intended to be placed under the mobo where there is no matching hole, but will still NOT...

I believe that the s340 already has integrated standoffs. Are you trying to screw standoffs from another case into the pre-installed integrated standoffs?

The single standoff they give you is only needed for ITX mobos I think.

It is not unknown for a case to be missing some parts.
Contact NZXT and they should send you a bag of parts including the proper size thread standoff screws.
I can not tell from photos, but if there are raised mounds where the motherboard screws should go, then you don't need standoffs.
Sometimes a single screw is used as a temporary locator to help mount the motherboard.
Have you read the case instruction manual?
Among other things, it should include a parts list.

No, mine does not come with pre-installed stand offs. At least in my picture it doesn't show unless I'm missing something.

I checked the whole list and the box. There is no such thing. ):

Yeah I checked the manual it came with everything it was supposed to come with. My motherboard doesn't have raised up mounts or anything. ):

Maybe that "separator" is the one item you found, and the eight standoffs are completely missing.

I see from your photo, though, that it shows a bag that appears to contain only one stand-off plus one wrench.

By the way, you say the stand-offs from your old case simply don't fit - they are too small and loose. But that one new stand-off you have: does it fit the holes in the case properly?

Thank you. I contacted NZXT and they are shipping me the motherboard stand off screws... in 2 weeks.. =.=
I'm in no rush but I have computer parts scattered in my room everywhere (hopefully they don't get damage from laying around). The brass stand off shown in my picture is from my old case, it does not fit properly, it's loose. The single stand off that is in the bag does fit perfectly into the holes. I did a small investigation and found out from various YouTube videos that you were right, the stand offs WERE infact supposed to be pre-installed in the case. So now it's all a matter of waiting. :/

It has integrated standoffs, but the middle one is a standoff with a pin in it to help you center your motherboard during install. The problem is some newer motherboards check every standoff screw is grounded. That pin wasn't designed to have a screw in it so during boot that pin doesn't hit the sensor on the motherboard and you can get error code 53. I had to take the pin out and replace it with a standoff put the motherboard back in and put a screw in that standoff and screw it down till it touched the beaded ring around the hole. It's a problem with case and motherboard compatability. Other people are kind of right, but with this particular case, which I own, this is most likely the culprit. It was a thoughtful design, but they probably didn't plan on mobo producers to deploystandoff sensors. Hope that helps someone else with this s340 case
