what so ever it is, insert you installation CD/DVD or USB, just follow all the normal installation process, when it come to Custom(Advance) installation option, select that, and format the drive where Windows 8 installed, then continue on that partition.
You will have windows 7 over 8..

If its a branded pc and you do overwrite Windows 8 you will void your warranty and you could lose the branded software that came with the computer. Within a month windows 10 will be coming out and I think it will be worth the wait. Another thing is Windows 7 users will eventually be forced to get Windows 10 as it will hassle people with the Get Windows 10 application located in the taskbar.
