Will a Motherboard/CPU Combo be limited by current PC hardware?

My PC has been freezing up and then crashing to a BSOD. Today while reseating RAM I noticed there are several bad caps on the motherboard. So now I'm shopping for a new mb and have a question.
If I buy a motherboard/CPU combo am I limited to something similar to my current hardware or can I buy a better one? I was considering a used combo on Ebay like maybe this one.
Intel DH55TC Motherboard Core i3 530 CPU Kingston DDR3 1333MHz 2GBx2 RAM Combo

HP Pavilion m8430f Desktop PC
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4
GPU: Nvidia Geforce 9800GTX+
Motherboard: Asus IPIBL-LB
HP/Compaq name: Benicia-GL8E
PSU: Corsair GS 700
Windows 7 Ultimate x64

No, that should work. My only cautions are that its eBay, and who knows if these parts will work or not. The other issue is that with a change in MB, you will need a new copy of Windows.

For my money, I buy new parts only, but just my opinion.
With bad caps you are into a new MB. The problem becomes it is difficult to mount a new MB into an OEM case from HP. Your CPU, a Q6600, could use the upgrade as well.

It is easier to start over with a new MB and CPU. You should then reuse the GPU and PSU if you wish. Plan on new RAM (8 GB), but you can reuse your HDD and optical drive if you want to keep the cost down.

I know, HP cases are tiny but I'm not concerned about that. I'll make it fit or use another case I have laying around. This isn't my gaming PC or anything so I won't mind cutting the case up a bit to make it fit.

I started shopping for a replacement mb with the same part number as mine but the prices are not much better then the newer ones. So I thought if I buy a MB/CPU combo I could get anyone one I want. The combo I mentioned has a Micro ATX MB like mine and comes with 4GB of RAM. It would upgrade me to an i3 CPU and an LGA 1156 Socket Type. I'm not sure if I can post a link to Ebay here but I'll try.

If not it is:
Intel Core i3 530 CPU
Intel DH55TC Motherboard
Kingston DDR3 1333MHz 2GBx2

Other than fit I can't think of any reason it would not work on this HP PC. Do you? I'm just afraid I might be missing something. Thanks for the help.
