I'm trying to fix my sister's computer problem. Every time we try to connect her laptop to the internet it says it is connected but it can't browse the internet or anything related online. It's a Sony Vaio from E series (model: vpceg25eg).

-I checked the network status and it says it's connected to the router and to the internet.
-I also checked if I can ping sites. I tried ping-ing google, yahoo and facebook, and all were successful
-I also checked if the browser (chrome) was blocked by firewall, and it wasn't

What I tried so far...
-turning router on/off
-removing the browser from accessing through the firewall, and then bringing it back
-i tried ipconfig/release then ipconfig/renew in cmd

now i'm out of ideas to do. if anyone can please help me, it would be great. thanks in advance

Check the browser proxy settings. If anything is there, remove it. To do this:
Click your menu button in chrome. (three horizonal lines to the right of the address bar)
Select "settings".
Click "Show advanced settings..."
Under the "Network" heading choose "Change proxy settings..."
Click the "Lan settings" button.
Make sure "Automatically detect settings" is checked.
Make sure the "Use a proxy server for your LAN" is NOT checked.
Click ok on both windows and exit settings. Close and re-open the browser.
