I have a 4790k cooled by a H100i GTX with two SP120 Performance editions and i get idle temps around 38-42C. I have it OC'd to 4.4. With my AMD i usually got like 20-30C so this is high for me. On prime95 Small ffts i got 82-83 C and on blend i get 58C. Is this perfectly normal? or do i need to get fans with higher airflow

You can't really compare the temp given by AMD's processor and the core temps shown for an Intel processor. The temperature given by an AMD processor is a few thermistors (as little as two, or as many as 8) which are averaged. The placement of the thermistors are such that they don't get as hot as Intel's core temperature readings.

As for Small FFT's, these will heat up your processor hotter than anything else since it uses AVX / AVX2. More so if your CPU voltage control is set to Adaptive or Offset. It is advisable to only test Small FFT's with the minimum voltage necessary on manual. If you are using Adaptive or Offset, the FIVR could seriously overvolt your CPU.

These temps seem "OK", not great, but you do have an overclock...

These temps seem "OK", not great, but you do have an overclock. Again, I'd look at how your voltage control is set. As I said you should only do Small FFT's with manual mode. Afterwards if you want the OS to lower your voltage during idle, you can set it to Adaptive or Offset.

It boosts to 4.4 without OCing. Get rid of the OC.

Is this on quiet Mode or what? Using Corsair Link? Fan speed and pump speed?

I've got a H110iGt on a i7 3930k, Its 16C in here and I'm idling (no OC) at 28C in Quiet Mode.

I didnt mean to chose this as the answer but I have the two fans on the rad plugged into a fan header that puts them at 100% all the time, and for the pump speed its on performance in corsair link. Could it be the thermal paste i am using as well?

Have you tried using Manual mode for Vcore? Or at least monitor your Vcore when you start P95 Small FFT's. If you have Adaptive or Offset enabled, I bet you'll see a serious jump in Vcore. when those AVX instructions kick in. It can add as much as .1V or 100mV if you prefer engineering notation. So if you are using 1.25V @ 4.4GHz, it could go as high as 1.35V which is certainly getting to the upper extreme of what I'd say is safe on a closed loop system.
