Hello! Planning to upgrade my rig and can't decide I5 4690K or I7 4790 non k, planning to use it for games and for C++, is it worth to buy an I7? In my country there is like 200$ difference, so I would like to know what is better for me. I also worried about I7 hyperthreading will it help in gaming? Cuz I heard that newest games will use hyperthreading. This rig I am planning to use for like next 2-3 years. And one more question which mobo is better Z87 extreme 3 or Z97-C?

Solution
yeah a sata 2 drive will work on it. the z97 motherboard all use the same chipset so there isnt to much of a difference other than the layout of the board(more pci-e slots, sata ports, m.2 ports etc.) whatever you would prefer in the board layout is the one to go with.

z97 motherboard will be better. i7 will perform better in games, but currently the performance increase is minimal. if you are compiling programs in C++ the i7 will make things faster, but i do not think the time saved is worth the extra $200. id say save the $200, get a z97 motherboard and the 4690k.
