Monitor turns off mouse and keyboard turn off but pc is still on.

as mentioned the Monitor turns off mouse and keyboard turn off as in the lights turn off both the mouse(g300) laser and the keyboards lights(i have a g105) but pc is still on, as the webcam lights are on and i cant restart the pc the buttons

on my case dont work i have to manually power off and power back on.

After power up it shows the windows diagnostic tools to enter safe mode and

such which means the pc didn't power down completely.

can anyone please help as to why this is hapening.

are you pressing the power button on your pc or shutting down through windows? pressing the power button on the pc could put it into hibernation mode (windows 7 had an issue coming out of hibernation, causing the issues you described). windows has settings in the power menu to change what the buttons on the case do, as well as the shut down button in the start menu. these could both be set to hibernate causing the issue.

that setting is set to shut down but the case button is unresponsive the power or restart button don't work i have to pull the plug literally to restart the pc

okay, and this issue only happens when you attempt to shut down the computer or does it happen when you've been away from it for awhile?

two years now but i just tested it on another pc today for 3 hours and nothing and i even tested the GPU and nothing so i'm confused as to what could be the problem.

randomly sometimes when i'm using chrome it'll die or if i'm playing games it won't like right now it's been running for an hour now but it could die any second.

do you have a secondary motherboard you could test with? it could be the motherboard, as the case buttons become unresponsive, display cuts out and you have to pull the plug. hard drive or RAM failure would usually result in a BSOD and a auto reboot by the motherboard.

i don't have a test build to test the mobo i did test the PSU and GPU on a friends PC they didn't seem like they were failing i have no idea what to do...

if you dont have the spare parts or money to buy them to troubleshoot, my only thought is to try reinstalling windows, you do not have to wipe your data to do this, but id recommend backing any important data up before reinstalling just in case something goes wrong.

I'm actually having the same problem, it's completely random, sometimes while playing a game, sometimes I walk out of the room and come back after just turning it on and its done this.

The fans, and lights keep going, even the lights on the MB are still on, but the lights on the mouse, keyboard, go out and the screen freezes to whatever was on when it happens.

However my case switches work, though sometimes it takes 2-3 times of trying to recycle the power for it to come back. I'm thinking its a MB issue... but I really don't know.

I also got the problem with Seasonic 550W S12G after 15 months use. Bot it because got higher spec than my Cooler Master 500W Thunder. While browsing the web or doing some donwloading, suddenly monitor, keyboard and mouse turn off but the PC LEDs and fans still running. Take one whole day to clean everything inside out and and still the same happen after 10 to 30 mins of use - PC hang more than 15 times, some folders got damaged even though it is SSD. Finally, replace the PSU by my still working cheapo 500W Cooler master and everything working normally now. Lesson learnt - if it is working don't upgrade because got spare money to buy a more expensive one.

Ginseng, so glad I saw your post! Thank you! I had the same problem; My monitor and keyboard/USB peripherals randomly shuts down while my PC still runs and the only way to restart the system is to unplug and re-plug it because the power and restart button didn't work.
I almost disassembled my system, thinking it was my motherboard (did some research, all signs and symptoms point to MB failure) and then I replaced my PSU. Problem fixed!!!
Replaced my PSU with EVGA 600 80 plus (non bronze/cheapo, $49.00 at Best Buy)

i had simmilar problem but less frequent so i ignored it until 1 month later my MB and GPU fried, turned out psu was putting wrong powers into cables and slowly killed gpu,mb

help. i had the same problem. my monitor, keyboard and mouse suddenly shuts down or disconnects in a minute but my mobo is still running. i already switch some of the components on my cpu case such as PSU, memory and some cables but still i didn't find any solution.
