Hey guys,
After my brother HD failed, we decided to do a clean install of the OS using a system recovery disk (on a new HD), but after starting the install and coming back to the computer in the morning it's been on "Please wait while installing application (3/41) Broadcom Wireless Driver-version 4.102.15.53" for around 45 min . I can still move the mouse, and the screen goes to screen saver occasionally.
Any advice will be appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

I can't skip the step, and the we didn't do anything with the adapter so it should still be there

Hi

Do you mean the system recovery disk for that PC or one from another PC with different specifications?

I did a vista reinstall recently using a genuine vista retail DVD

And used the vista device drivers from the toshiba web site

I downloaded a blue tooth driver and installed it
There is no blue tooth on this model so it hung.

After a hour I shut down the laptop using the power button
Then restarted and carried on loading the device drivers

So after a long weight with no progress you will have to try forcing a restart or shutdown .

Edit one thing I missed check if the wireless is enabled, possibly a hardware switch needs pressing

Try killing the driver install process with task manager (The name varies depending on the manufacturer of your PC). Then, on another computer with internet access, go to the manufacturer's website and download the latest drivers for your laptop model and OS. If the wireless driver fails to install, you either downloaded the wrong driver for your laptop (Some manufacturers use different brand WLAN cards, such as Intel, Atheros, Broadcom, or another vendor), or you selected the incorrect OS version/architecture.
