Helping someone buy a new computer

So, I'm trying to help advise someone who wants to get a new computer....

-They are not willing to try to build it themselves,
and
-It would be impractical for me to build it for them

So, I was trying to make a search for them to look at and decide what they want w/o having to even look at all the crap out there....

Their budget is about $500 but they would prefer cheaper although if there is a very good deal they may be willing to go up to $600-750...

So, I remember someone from highschool talking about Ibuypower, so when I was looking at that site I thought that may be an option I could guide them through it (perhaps not get a good graphic card, OS, and power supply as they all seem too overpriced and I might be able to convince them to at least build those into their computer themselves and save money....)

And the other option Would be to just buy a desktop that's pre-built...

Now, I'm not sure is Newegg is the best for just buying a system and if anyone has another good site too look at or w/e that advice would be good too....

So, on newegg I was just kinda going through all the graphic choices and just selecting stuff that should be acceptable and was curious if I should filter it more then I already did.

Heres the link with the filters:

Any advice....?

what will they be using it for? (games(what kind of games), schoolwork, internet browsing)

if they are willing to do a little work... I bought a nice dell and tossed in a new gpu and it works great for me

They want to do artwork mostly and a bit of gaming as well. I feel the CPU is the easiest thing to go wrong with building a computer, so I don't think that will fly.

And if you do put it in wrong, ur sol. Then you need to not get Thermal paste in the wrong area and get the proper cooling for it.......If you can do that all right then you might as well build it all....

As for the kind of art, They are just a beginner now and going to be starting college soon And I believe that they are probably only doing PS/Gimp for now but IDK where they may move onto later....

I am currently asking them about a monitor...

Wait, why would you need to put a cpu in a prebuilt ? I said I put a GPU * like a graphics card. I swapped out the crappy graphics card my dell had and threw a good one in.

also when he said the CPU only goes in one way, I think he meant like it will physically only fit in one way.

Sorry, just read it wrong for some reason, mai bad. Yeah, I know...but you do still need to deal with thermal paste and cooling for a CPU and it wouldn't be the first time someone put one in physically wrong. The person is the kind of person who would get unnecessarily stressed if they had to do anything and I do not trust their judgement when they are stressed...>.<

Seems they want a monitor to be included in the budget

As I said, I'm not sure I can completely trust their judgment to put the arrow in the right corner(Most likely it will be fine but idk still). Also, generally if you somehow mess that up generally pins can possibly be bent....? Or am I still getting confused by what you are saying.....? o_O They have never build a computer before and I don't know if they would be able to tell something is wrong or not chances are that would not be a problem I'm just saying that it is possible to do something where a pin(s) might get bent and that would be quite troublesome

don't need the PSU with a 750 ti most likely. the 750 ti uses so little energy . and could go for an i3 dell. I found an i3 dell for 470 on dell's site. an inspiron. and I wouldn't even get a graphics card if its just basic photoshop stuff.
and I have a 23" acer h236hl bid. you can find them on ebay for about 120

Well from experience I have a laptop with intel HD 4000, and a desktop with a r9 280x. I feel they could manage with at least the 3000 better is always good though. I don't know how much the CPU would matter or really how to decide what a good CPU is even My laptop is just a mid 2012 MacBook Pro and my desktop i just threw in a 4790k(wish i saved the money on that tho xD) But do you think that the newegg link is decent enough, or is there anything I could change before showing them that...? From experience I feel like 8 GB RAM is deff worth it....

not sure if you already showed him, but I would just send them to Lenovo or dell's site. if they aren't going crazy with gaming... just have them buy a prebuilt and be done. I'd aim for an i5 model. dell was having a special, not sure if they still are, but they had some desktops with a free 32" LG tv
