Dear tom hardware users

A few months ago my PC shutdown with Asus anti surge protection a few times l,made a post about it here but then the issue never happened again except for a few days ago once while browsing the web another time while playing a game it then started working again fine ,then when pressing the power button the GPU and PSU and two front 120mm start spinning expect the CPU fan there is no display on the monitor and the BIOS won't come up, it seems strange this issue is happening as it happened to my old dell PC month's back, could it be electrics? Any how will try re plugging everything, could it be the PSU? Any help would be as appreciated

Solution
The anti surge warning normally means that the board has stopped a surge coming from the PSU. You might have a failing PSU and it might have fried your CPU fan.

Make sure it is plugged into the CPU fan header and that no wires are in the way.

ok thanks for your reply, it seems now not even the motherboard audio light which runs through the board is not powering on

One of two possibilities:

1. PSU is going bad, I doubt it is that as if so it wouldn't power on properly not just certain parts would stop working

2. Motherboard got fried, most likely as certain parts are slowly failing.

Best way to test it is with a test PSU that is known to be good. If it does the same thing you can take out all components but what you need to get video output (GPU unless you have a built in GPU) and have power only to the motherboard. If it still presents the same issues then the board more than likely suffered a bad surge and is going bad.

One other thing to check, look at the capacitors on the motherboard and see if any of them are bulging or leaking. If they are then that is a sure sign of a failing board.

The CXM are not horrible PSUs but I personally would not use them in a gaming build, only entry level or light use systems because they are made to be cheaper.

Personally I wont go with anything less than a Corsair AXi series or equivalent Seasonic/SuperFlower.

I ell hopefully be able to get a refund from amazon , this PSU brand seems to have a very bad reputation for using cheap capacitors and seems to have alot of issues ,thanks alot for the replys would you recommend xfx 750watts vs evga g2 750watts? both seem to have great reviews and hopefully it will solve this issue
