OK i thought you were asking 1 GTX 980 Ti vs 2 GTX 770 SLI, the 980 ti is faster

As for SLI you can't SLI 2 cards that aren't of the same generation, so like you could do a 980 ti and a 980, but the 770 wont work.
You can't SLI a 980 Ti and a 980.
Crossfire is a little more lenient, but SLI is only with two cards of the same model and even then, it can be a bit finicky about things like two different factory overclocked cards. With that said, Crossfire typically only works with two of the same GPU (even if one is a cut down version of it, so long as the base GPU is the same). So you can do a 290X and a 290, but not a 290 and a 285.
