Hey! As the title says I want my current 250gb on a raid0 setup. Currently I have left 13gb of it and a upgrade is needed. I was wondering if it is possible to put it on raid0 with 500gb of the same ssd? Another 250gb is also a way to go...but I'm thinking if I'll use it up again I will have to upgrade again which I would wanna avoid if I can get 750gb of ssd in raid0.

Solution
MUCH safer if you just add it as another drive. When/if you need to reinstall the OS, only that particular drive is affected. Not the whole thing.

And then of course if either drive, or the RAID controller gets corrupted...in a RAID 0, all is lost.

As just another drive, you can add whatever sizes you like.

Well. I want to raid0 so that it looks like one SSD in my system, not because of the speed and so on. It seems the easiest way to raid them together...but getting another 250gb..I dont know, if it fills up again im left to do it again...3 x 250gb is pretty weird to think about.

So it will look like a D:\ station? And my OS on C:\? There arent any disadvantages to it? I mean, if thats how it is, I can just add it and install games just by selecting the D:\ station. Even install the Steam folder on it. But it will be as fast, right? Just double checking. :p

Yes, there is no real world performance difference having them as separate drives instead of a raid. It will be fast, with ssds the drive speed isn't a limiting factor for games.

Read this link on how to enable installing steam games to multiple drives/directories (http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-2514825/steam-ssd.html?siteFrom=EPR-8807#xtor=EPR-8807). Adding this you get a prompt when installing games as to which predefined install location you want to use.

Put the Steam client on the C drive.
In the client settings, you can designate multiple install locations.
This is mine, from a while ago:

I see! Steam client on C drive and all the games located on the new SSD. If it is as fast, I might just do that. Looks good too. All the games on the new drive, while programs and OS on my 250 gb one. I will go for 500 gb then. :) Thank you so much!

One last question. It is just plug in work situation right? If I get it and plug it to my motherboard my system at start should show it as a new drive, no? Also, Samsung evo 840 is out...replaced by 850, that also shouldnt be a problem i think?

The 850 is good. I have 1 or 2.
Plug the drive in...at most you'd have to Initialize it in Disk Management, and give it a drive letter.
