Hi all, wondering if you can help me determine if an OCZ ModXStream Pro 700W PSU will work/be sufficient for the club 3d r9 290x video card I just purchased.

Also, I didn't notice the PSU in the tier list. I'm assuming it's not a very good PSU?

cheers

As I said, it's an older part so you MAY run into stability issues, but TBH with 700 reliable Watts on tap I can't see you running into any problems, even with an OC on the GPU as well, but if you do start seeing random crashes and glitches you can't resolve by other means in the future it may point to a stressed out PSU.
I've deselected me as best answer to give others a chance to give their input, reselect me if you wish.

The ModExtreme were mid/upper tier parts-equal to tier two or three of Toms listing-as I recall, but OCZ pulled out of the PSU market a few years ago, that's why it's not on the listing.
Like my own ModExtreme I'll guess it's getting on a bit by now so you MAY-just may-encounter some stability issues if you delve into overclocking what I can say for certain is that my rig is running off exactly the same part and is as stable and solid as a pyramid.
Unless you're paying a lot for electricity, I can't see any other reason to change the power supply and even then it'll take some years to recoup the cost of a modern 80 Plus Gold or Platinum part in saved energy.

Out of curiousity, why would it have an issue with overclocking? I'm asking because I have an intel 3258 that I've overclocked to 4.2ghz. Little nervous now lol
