I had recently tested a single 4gb PC-6400 800 MHz module in HP Proliant ML115 G5 model. It has not worked. At one place somebody has written that this model can't support more than 2GB RAM module per slot. Can somebody confirm what is the maximum GB of RAM module per slot this model supports?

Solution
From the HP Quicspec
Memory

  • ■ Four (4) DIMM slots
    ■ 1GB (1x1GB) Standard/8GB Maximum, using PC2-6400 DDR2 Unbuffered ECC memory, operating at 800MHz
That would imply 2GB / slot (4 slots and 8GB max).

If not specifically mentioned, it can imply 8+0+0+0 or 4+4+0+0 or 4+2+1+1 including 2+2+2+2. HP documentation says 4 slots and max 8GB. It doesn't say you have to distribute it equally in four slots. One seller claims that modules should be put in pairs. However, my machine has only module of 1GB right now and it works.
