First of all i want to mention that it is my first thread and i signed up just to post this..
İ strongly recommend u to grab a coffee as its going to be long one; as i want u to understand the exact problem i am facing i ll explain in details; laptop details; windows 8 64 bit uefi/gpt ;
Here is my problem; i wanted to try backtrack out so i used unetbootn and rebooted but it wont boot it, so after some research i found out that windows 8 uefi doesnt support linux , so i said nvm lez get rid of that backtrack bootloader entry so i wont have to choose each time , so i had used easybcd to create backtrack entry and used again it to get rid of that however i accidentally deleted windows 8 entry from there and then backtrack, i knew that it wd be problem so i used easybcd s own back up and repair menus alas unsuccessful (didnt know at that time that easybcd 2.1 doesnt support uefi), so i said i should use windows repair and shift rebooted and clicked windows repair , which said somethng like unsuccesfull and it needs to be rebooted, which i did however i wasnt able to boot at all i got some missing error and only option it gave me was to esc=chnage uefi options which only rebooted itself and endless loop, after dozens of hours spent researching for safe mode boot key for lenovo z580 i found out that there was bug in this model for this issue, i was desperate as i tried every possible thing (shft+f2,fn+f2,novo button, b) so then i turned it off and rampaged on keyboard and magically it turned itself on and i ve got 4 menus 1)normal startup 2)bios settings 3)bios setup 4)one key recovery ; so basically i tried them all one by one ; 1 and 3 lead to the same path , that loop that i mentioned earlier , and 2 and 4 lead to same as well (one key recovery).. So after 2-3 desperate hours of trying again and again i rampaged again and discovered something new, within 0,25 seconds after clicking to bios setup if f8 is pressed it ll open advanced options in which there was safe mode as well; yay i felt happy, i rly did so i imagined that safe mode ll save me , however after i launch safe mode its not the usual safe mode that i ve been to , i remember being able to acess hdd(my computer,music,photos) but no there was nothng and i didnt even had to enter my user password as well there was only empty desktop, and cursor was rotating so i thought i shoukd wait after some time some error menu appeared telling me there wasnt enuf space in partition to copy something like boot.efi if my memory serves me correctly; it surprised me cuz there was 100 gb free space how come? So i browsed and discovered that safemode was trying to copy to some newly created partittion or at least it was new to me (hidden mb) and stuck again and it wont let me change destination partition browse menu only lez change source path ; which i think is ridicilous ; so m stuck again and hopeless no cmd no bootmgr; then i went to technician with my laptop, we got the hdd and inserted(swapped,internal) it to some other laptop.. Then again no boot menu it asks to get some bootable device and press any key, so we inserted windows 8.1 (mine is 8) and windows logo appeared, so right below the install there was a repair menu to which i clicked and as repair said cant acesss to the os partition try to unlock itfirst and sane goesfor reset, so at least i had cmd i thought to myself and read in some bootloader recovery blogs how can it be done with cmd. And i did try every single thing, by everything i mean everything (almost) bootrec, bcdboot c:\windows /l en-gb /s b: /f all; cd /d b:\efi\microsoft\boot ; none of that helped some notes i got tho, i was able to detect that system partition which contains efi files, however when i try to create partition efi after selecting that partition it wont as it says it doesnt have space , and it wont let me shrink it as well, however i think i dont need to create efi partition as its already efi itself and its format is fat32 and it has all efis (i used dir ) so i skipped and tried bcdboot c:\windows /l en-gb \s b: /f all; bootrec /fix it said its done sucessfully however it didnt solve it as well i mean no any visible changes as well ; so i almost gave up but then i came across in some blog where the guy basically created boot entries from scratch in cmd (might provide link if necessary later, low speed internet connection in phone), i mean he created bootmgr first and then set its path, then entered windows entry and ended up having some guid and so on.. So for the first time i thought wow this is exactly what i need alas it didnt help tho some stuff to be noticed ; he was doing it in windows 7 so when he setup his path as windows/system32/winload.exe , i instead set it as windows/system32/winload.efi or (winload64.efi(i confirmed one of them through dir and used that one,)) Tried even winload.exe itself, and another thing to notice there was step where i had to choose some another path as well which was systemroot/windows but i cdnt do it prolly varies in win 8 ; so again was stuck; so i got some software called easy recovery essentials ; booted with it and tried to repair; it located all the partitions including c:(os) so i tried to repair howeer it said somethnng like installed os is newer so its not wise to do it and it wont do it ; so through browsing easyre i was able to access files and there were all good, then there was gparted as well with which m not familiar alas something caught my attention in gparted, the only active partition was Efi partition, and my os wasnt active (have no idea wether its normal or not) so simply put m stuck again; but here is what i think, i veonly deleted boot entry option it shdnt be fatal, i imagine it like there was some softwares shortcut and i deleted it, so if i set newshortcut and set right path it should work; however another thing that makes me worry is that i mean in that software example, its like i have deleted desktop as well cuz there is no option, i mean no desktop , its like whenever i try to boot machine wont detect anything like i mean literally nthng and it says insert something bootable so i imagine there is no desktop to create shortut and set its path ; so how can i create it ? İ mean that bootmgr /create that i mentioned earlier should have done it and same for windows entry even if we assume that paths were incoreect it should at least gave me an option to select that newly created entry but no nothng after that much commands o visable change , which makes me to think that hdd is locked or somethng like that or somethng is preventing to make any changes on it can it be uefi? But in that laptop which m using to try to boot is casper and in its bios settings it says bios is ahcdi; by the way forgot to mention that i even tried to completely delete and created new fat32 format (d: which has 25 gb size and mostly unneeded stuff) so that i cd install windows in there and boot from there but no, it said that i cant install windows in gpt partition.. So any advices? Pls at least upvote so i can catch some advanced in this areas ppls attention as it seems like m doomed, pls tell me m not..
