Ram won't work in dual channel (no signal)

Hey everyone.

I just bought a second stick of Corsair ram, making sure to match everything right down to the serial number for compatibility's sake. Now, both sticks work individually in any DIMM slot on my motherboard, yet when they're both put into the same channel, I get no signal to my monitor. I currently have them both running together in different channels with no issue, but I would like to run them in dual channel mode.

My motherboard is an MSI Z97M-G43 and I'm using an i5 4590. The ram is Corsair Value Select (2x4GB DDR3 1333MHz) - serial number CMV4GX3M1A1333C9

Any help would be appreciated. As I say, any slot on the motherboard works perfectly with a single stick, so I'm fairly certain that's not the issue.

Thanks everyone.

Solution
Quite often when DRAM won't play, it can be in the tolerance of the sticks, it can be the MC (memory controller) is having trouble reconciling differences between sticks etc. Often just adding a slight bit of voltage to the DRAM or MC can overcome the differences, there's also the option of trying looser timings as they may just be a hair to tight to let the sticks play together, i.e. if you look at 1600 sticks will find the in a variety of CLs and timings, most common in say 1600 is anywhere from CL7 to CL8, .....through CL11

I'll order a second stick of the same ram and then remove the old one. That shouldn't cause any issues then hopefully. I've also just started getting blue screens.

Will do. I've ordered the same 4GB stick from Amazon, so I can test that tomorrow with the new one that I got today. I'll update then.

Get at 8GB 2x4GB. Even a same stick might not work right.

Done. I'm returning the other one.

I returned it earlier today. Out of interest though, do you mind explaining why this could work?

Thanks for explaining that. Got my new 8GB kit and it seems like DIMM slots 3 and 4 four aren't working at all. I'll check over my CPU later, but I think that's why dual channel didn't work.

My issue is resolved now. I inspected the CPU socket and noticed two pins very slightly out of alignment. Took a while, but I managed to push them back into place and now everything works fine. All four DIMM slots are working as intended.

Thanks for all the help.
