When i connect my SSD to SATA 6 on my board (asmedia 3 i think it is) it says my SSD is an IDE device

Had my SSD in for a while now and never bothered to fix this problem.

I hooked my SSD up into an asmedia sata 3 port and done the same with my HDD and now my Bios tells me there both IDE when before hand it didnt say that

Specs -

MOBO - MSI 760GA P43 FX

SSD - Samsung EVO

Check your motherboard's system BIOS. AHCI mode should be enabled instead of IDE mode

Just checked and it is in AHCI mode, Just noticed that my Bios only shows sata 1-6 and not 7 and 8 which are the asmedia ones that my HDD and SSD are connected too. Any ideas?

Try connecting to SATA ports 01 for the ssd and 02 for the hard drive and see what happens.

it says its sata now? wonder whats causing that.
