The GT 720 would be about the best for that budget. The GT 730 if you have at least a 300W PSU.

If your motherboard has a PCI x16 slot, it is compatible. Whether or not it will be recognized by the rest of the system, depends on what the system you have consists of. But any PCIe x16 card should work in any PCIe x16 slot. PCI Express is a backward compatible interface.
