I have a modem and it is linked to the wireless router (linksys x1000). From the router, two ethernet cables are used for a laptop which is placed on the same floor as the modem and router (3rd floor) and another for a pc downstairs. This router sends out the wireless connection and the connection only goes well till the 2nd floor. I would like to use the wifi on the 1st floor as well as the two top floors so I was thinking of using a switch (D-link des-1008a) between the modem and the wireless router. The wireless router will be placed on the 2nd floor so all the three floors can connect to the wireless internet. Is this possible and will I need to change settings(IP address, etc.)? There is also the pc that needs to connect to internet with cable and so from which devices (wireless router or switch) should I connect the cable to? Is it also possible to use this wireless router model for both wireless connection and router at the same time coz I have read somewhere that it couldn't. Much Thanks!
