I will be a freshman in high school this year, and i am not sure whether to get a laptop or a desktop. I will be using it for games such as Battlefield, Minecraft, CSGO, and many others. I need great looking graphics; somewhere in the Nvidia GTX 960 or 970 range, and for a laptop, the 965m or 970m. I will also use this computer for school but any computer can do that. I will use it for soft wares like editing, music/sound making, designing, and engineering. So stuff like CAD and other things. I have a budget of around $1300, but i would like to keep it under that. Somewhere around $1200.
So basically i need a gaming computer but i am not sure if i should get a laptop or a desktop. Keep in mind i need some money for a car, too. i do have a summer job. i can build my own desktop. i need something that will last so i can still afford a car. PLEASE HELP as i would like to purchase this asap.
if you give a recommendation on laptop or desktop, please include models/parts.
for a laptop i have my eye on the ASUS ROG G751JL-DS71.
for the desktop please feel free to give me recommendations on parts. Thank you in advance.

That's the problem. I don't know which one is better suited for my needs. Portability is nice, but not completely needed.

Desktop + nvidia shield tablet?
A laptop is not at all ideal for gaming it overheats the battery runs out + it never has the price/performnce of a desktop an 1300$ laptop may game like a 600-700$ desktop also if 1 part of your laptop fails you can duy a complately new one if 1 part of your desktop you just buy that part and you are good to go also future compatibility and upgrades a desktop has countless ways to best a laptop in gaming

Maybe consider a shield tablet if you want mobile gaming i have one if you have extra mega fast really fast internet connection + 4g than its great ;)
