What would be a good PC gaming build for about $350?

I would like upgradeability for the future and to play games like battlefield, COD and Crysis 3. Would I be better off going with a APU or a cheap CPU and GPU?

Also any build suggestions would be nice and possibly with the type of FPS I might get with the suggested build.

$350 is a pretty tight budget. So consider this solid build without OS:

CPU: Intel Pentium G3258 3.2GHz Dual-Core Processor ($64.89 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard: MSI H81M-P33 Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($45.89 @ OutletPC)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($41.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 500GB...

$350 is not going to get you much. Even less than this if you need to buy windows too.

This would be fine @720p and playable at 1080p low settings.

Notes:

- The G3258 processor is a budget gaming beast that can handle all modern games comfortably. Can be overclocked easily to 3.8-4.0GHz by updating the H81 Chipset based MSI H81M-P33 motherboard. All major motherboard manufacturers had confirmed thal any H81/87/97 chipset based motherboards can be used to overclock the G3258 after updating the BIOS of those boards.

- This motherboard also allows you to upgrade to any Haswell i3/i5/i7 processors in future.

- The GTX 750 Ti is a capable graphics card that can handle all modern games with medium/high graphical fidelity @1080/720p. Only requires a 400W PSU that can deliver 20Amps or more on its +12V rail.

- The EVGA 80+ Certified 500W PSU that can deliver 40Amps or more on its +12V rail, which is more than enough for this build. Gives you the option in future to upgrade to mid/high graphics cards like GTX970/980, R9 270/270X/380/R7 370 etc.
