I'm a complete noob to pc hardware so it took me a bit to come up with this build and i just want to know if it's good before i buy.

I also have a few questions to go along, i could buy a i7-4790k for about the same price. However i don't plan on overclocking, atleast anytime soon. Since i am a noob i dont wanna mess around with that kind of stuff to much because i'd be afraid i might break something. But would that cpu be better even though i wouldnt overclock? Also if i do get the 4790k would it be a good idea to upgrade the motherboard to a z97, that i could also get for around the same price as a h97.

You don't need an aftermarket CPU cooler unless you're going to overclock. Stock fan will do just fine.

Always avoid Corsair's CX PSUs

The GTX 970 outperforms the R9 290, and draws less power.

Actually, you could change the processor to and i7 4790k, and then get a Z97 mobo that supports SLI.

Overclocking is safe nowadays. If your computer won't start, theres no need to worry. Just reset the CMOS and your computer will work fine once again.

The K build looks something like this. It's more expensive though.
