Hi guys, basically I've been trying to solve a strange internet problem since October last year with no luck. when i go onto the internet the pages will go slow or keep loading like i'm on a very slow ISP or sometimes wont load at all saying page timed out or DNS probe error. It also causes my PC to completely Lock up i cant close the page, i cant type anything i cant even open up task manager to close it that way i just have to wait or unplug the Ethernet cable then it unlocks then plug back in. I've tried new copies of windows 7 also tried windows 8, tried new firmware in my ssd, new GPU since, new Ethernet cable, tried opera, chrome and Firefox i swapped from talk talk standard line adsl then i changed to plus net fibre optics which made no difference so then i swapped back to talk talk again and purchased the top package which is now 68 mbps 25 ping and 18 mbps upload and that's also made no difference i'm starting to run out of solutions and getting very annoyed if anyone knows what this might be please don't hesitate to share your opinion.

It's a tough situation and I understand your frustrations. I've been having issues with an unstable Internet connection recently myself. I reinstalled my Ethernet drivers. I'm currently running Windows 10 technical preview to see if that resolves the issue. You might try considering that option since the Edge browser is a new animal. It could even be a bad LAN chip on your motherboard or something. I might upgrade my motherboard, so you may consider that an option as well. But yeah, try Windows 10. I'm doing it for the next several days. Keep me posted.

call me paranoid, but I think there is some "Super" virus that nobody can detect that is using MASSIVE amounts of pc power from millions of users.

I have similar issues, thought it was cause the laptop only had 4GB RAM- upgraded to 8GB, but it still crawls/stops constantly. I also notice that Windows Installer seems to run very often

Comcast internet, typ 13 mS ping, up to 90 Mbits d/l, ~ 6 Mbits upload

No I've not thought of that but you could be onto something. Me and my dad have both been using the same windows disk which I've had for years... a copy. If there was always a virus on that disc and it become corrupt with age could that cause some system problems?

Well if you using the same disk and same key I think the help here is going to say something like you need to purchase a valid copy win 7 xp 98 95 win 8 8.1 and so on requires a purchase 1 cd/dvd 1 pc that's it ..... Maybe that's the key to your problems .... and yes a virus from some copy which could have came from some torrent site is also a issue.... Correct me if I am wrong but if your both using the same dvd/ and key then someone has to purchase a legit copy ....

We don't both use the same key just the installation disc, it is getting pretty old now i know this because it has to install service pack 1 after a fresh windows installation. I'm running in safe mode now and its not made any difference but good suggestion though. I've got a engineer coming out Tuesday to do something to the line, talktalk decided i needed one because of the drop from 76 mbps to 68 mbps and ping went to 25-32 from 10-13 ping. Originally i rang them to turn interleaving off because that's what caused the slight speed issue then they forwarded onto the higher technical team and now they are sending engineers out to my house, i only wanted interleaving turned off they are that stupid they don't know what interleaving is or how to turn it off... they are like talking to the people from idiocracy movie i was literally there on the phone for 1 hour 30 mins trying to explain to apu from the Simpsons what interleaving is and how to turn it off. Im just hoping all these issues i'm getting arent crosstalk because vdsl is pretty bad for it, from what i've ready we don't use vectoring in England to eliminate it and i think where i live we have the old aluminium line.

They ended up sending out a talk talk bright sparks guy to plug a tab in my modem and it turns out there is a outside issue so he's booked in a BT open reach guy. All hard wired internet sh*t is getting really annoying i was even thinking about getting a 4g plus data tariff with EE and completely doing away with a line all together and just tether from my phone. My sister gets 44 mbps on her i phone 5, considering the iPhone 5 can only receive a 1800 mhz phone mast signal that's very good, if i was to buy a iphone 5c or 5s which supports all signals i'm pretty sure it will find closer phone masts as well as the nearest 1800mhz one the standard iphone 5 would be using so i'm amusing it will go past 44 mbps.
