I am looking at building my first gaming PC on a bit of a budget, the parts list I have come up with is:

CPU: AMD FX-6300
GPU: Sapphire Dual-X Radeon R9 270X
Motherboard: ASUS M5A78L-M/USB 3
RAM: Crucial 8GB (2 x 4GB) Ballistix Sport
HDD: Seagate 1 TB Barracuda
Case: Zalman Z3 Plus ATX/M-ATX Tower
PSU: EVGA 500W White 80+

I am wondering if these parts are compatible and if I am getting value for money out of my budget of about €600. Thank you for any help you can provide.

Solution

With a 6300 you NEED an aftermarket cooler as the stock cooler is terrible. If you spend a little more on the FX 6350 the stock heatsink that comes with it is much better than the 6300 and will work fine out of the box.

The parts would be compatible. But I would prefer a Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 revision:6 motherboard for better reliability and sturdiness.

Also the Power supply may be a little better than a 500Watts. Go for a 550 or 650 Watt PSU for better efficiency and reliability for any futur overclocking if needed.

Everything else looks good.

Well the 6300s stock cooler is a little issue if you are overclocking. But other than that, it is not that much of a problem. I am also using FX6300 with its stock cooler. But I don't feel any issue with it. Apart from a little bit noisy when 3D rendering due to the high CPU usage, everything including the temps are okay.

use pcpartpicker. it will tell you how many watts to use, if it's all compatible, and will give you the best price by comparing prices at new egg, Amazon, and other stores
