As title suggests. What CPU should I get that will give me better performance, and the most bang for my buck? I'm using the computer for gaming.

Solution
Well to go above an 860K requires a new motherboard as the 860K is about the best your going to get on FM2.

If you want to stick with AMD, the only option really is to go to their 'AM3' platform and look at an FX 6300 or FX 8320 (these are similare performance per core to your 860K, but have benefit of more cores- 6 on the 6300 and 8 on 8320).

Aside from that, your best bet currently is probably go with Intel. For gaming the Haswell Core i3 and Core i5 models are your best options (haswell parts numbers all start '4XXX' e.g. Core i5 4570). The i3 would give you a good boost in games that rely on single thread from the 860K, not so much in well threaded games that use 4 cores. The i5 is the better upgrade but costs a bit more.

The only other thing I should mention, have you considered over clocking the 860K, given you already have it? Those are unlocked and I think with decent cooling can be pushed quite a way. Most graphics intensive games will be graphics card limited before CPU anyway so over clocking might give you the boost you need?
