Hey, I own a samsung 840 evo 120gb ssd. I was very happy with it until it recently started filling up for no reason. I have downloaded some small and some big programs. I also use steam and popcorn time, which is what I think is taking up all the storage. But when I look at all the files and programs it sums up to about 20gb, however it says that I only have 136mb out of 111b...
I run windows 8.1 64bit and have a nvidia card, and I have tried to delete as much as possible or move it over to my hdd on 1tb.

This is really annoying me and not knowing where all of these things that is eating up my space is aswell. Other people also have this issue but their threads never helped me.
If anyone have any clue or suffer from the same issue and have some info to share, please help.

Thanks!

Make sure your System Restore is either disabled or not set to a huge %. for some reason system restore will sometimes change to use like 60% of drive space.

You might want to get a visual of what is using the space on your drive. I recommend using WinDirStat, a free program that you can download here (https://windirstat.info/). Make sure your data is backed up and is accessible. Then you should be safe to delete the space wasters on your drive.

You may also have to consider getting the lastest firmware update from Samsung. (again, make sure everything is backed up and be prepared to have to wipe and reload your data)

There are many space eating things that just clicking properties and viewing the size wont show you.

Did you use the Samsung magician tool to turn off hibernation and system restore and lower virtual memory. Those the big ones right off the bat.

Have you emptied recycle bin and Downloads folder?

Have you ran CCleaner to get rid of all of your temp internet files, system temp files and caches?

Do you have AHCI enabled on your PC for proper TRIM and Garbage Collection on your drive?
