Add slave drive to ide single port on mobo hence need 4 connection ide cable to connect dvd device also???

It's been a long time since I had to deal with PATA interfaces. But I'm pretty sure each IDE header on your motherboard is only capable of 2 devices. Older boards used to have a primary and secondary header for machines that required more than two devices. What board do you have?
