How future proof is this rig?

Hey guys
so this is my rig

i5 4690
gigabyte gtx 960 4gb wf 3x
8gb ram
650w psu

I have a 900p monitor and i'm sticking to it for the time being...
so my questions:
1- will i be able to max out every game at this resolution? If so for how long? (And get about 50fps)
2- in a year or two if i want to upgrade my gpu wpuld you recommend another gtx 960 added to the rig orjust one 970?
3- how long will it take before this cpu gets old for gaming?
4- how much of a difference will direct x 12 make for my gpu?

1. Depends on your monitor resolution. - 1080P it will be fine. 1440P might struggle a bit but a single 960 should keep up, dual would be better. 4K - absolutely not.

2. Depends on what's new that will be available.

3. Unless your long term includes 4K or Oculus, you should be fine for a single monitor.

1. You won't be able to max every game, my 980 can only just max GTA 5 with 8x MSAA but if you turn down MSAA you will get decent frame rates at high settings.
2. In a year or two there will be new cards, you should go for a bigger upgrade than a GTX 970 when it comes to it.
3. The CPU should be good for a few years yet.
4. No one really knows, but it can only improve performance, any extra is a bonus, right?

2. nvidia pascal gpu chip last month tapped out. so some time next year you see pascal p100 gpu cards and chips on the market.
3. about two week and intel is dropping skylake in two weeks. haswell and skylake mb and cpu dont fit if you try to use a newer mb with an older cpu. there one more pin on a skylake cpu then there is for haswell.
it come down to a few months of hands on testing from gaming sites. on how well the api is writen and how games engines old and new use the api.
