So today I opened up my old laptop, and saw that the hard drive had SATA power and data. I plugged it in to my mobo, put it in my SSD bay, and when I started the computer up, and went into the boot menu, it didn't show up. I unplugged it, made sure nothing was loose, and then turned it on again. Next, I decided to go into windows, and see if it was in "My Computer". It wasn't. I knew that there was a ubuntu on the drive, so I restarted, and booted into my own linux partition. I went into "disks", and saw there was nothing there. I've heard others who have had no problem doing this, and I'm sure the hard drive works. I need to know what to do to get it to show up. For reference, my mobo is a gigabyte GA-H97-GAMING 3, processor is intel 4790, and the laptop had an AMD processor in it (compaq presario cq62).

If this is the case, I'd recommend that you try out some of the options from this article: http://www.howtogeek.com/112888/3-ways-to-access-your-linux-partitions-from-windows/. Hopefully one of them helps you with your issue.

edit: You could also check this out: http://www.askvg.com/how-to-access-linux-partitions-ext2-ext3-from-windows-in-dual-boot-system/, as the other article is a bit outdated.
Hey there, Rjected.

What's the partition's files system? Have you checked if the drive shows up in Disk Management? Do you need to recover data?
If the drive is recognized by Disk Management you could try assigning it a new letter to see if that helps you with your issue. Here's how to do it:
How to change the drive letter assignment in Windows
. If that doesn't prove useful, you could try connecting it to a different computer to see if the same thing happens, or at least try some of the other SATA cables and ports on that computer.

Please let me know how everything goes.

I'm pretty sure the file system is ext4, since there is only ubuntu on it. I don't need to recover data, although if I can that would be great. My main priority is to get it to work.
It didn't show up in disk management, or on the linux disk management.

If I need to reformat it, then I can put it back into the original laptop and reformat. The drive works, just not with the desktop. I've also tried different SATA cables and ports and yielded the same result.
