No display on my PC after installing water cooling - motherboard may be the issue

I'll start by saying that I did check the sticky on booting/POST/display issues.

This past weekend, I purchased a water cooling system for my CPU, as the stock cooler was not keeping its temperatures down well enough. I installed that just fine, without too many issues. The one thing I should mention, however, is that I had to remove the mounts for the CPU fan in order to install my new cooler. In any case, once I did that, I was unable to get any signal on my display (I use my television as a monitor, which works with all other devices, in case that is worth mentioning).

I think the most pertinent detail is that I actually have been able to get my computer to work after setting this up - display, sound, everything was fine. I even verified in the BIOS that my cooling system was functioning, as the newly lowered temperatures showed. At the time, my case was lying on its side so that I could fix something if there was an issue. Since things were working fine, I placed it upright....and then the system turned off. Because the computer was working, even if only for a little bit, I'm confident that the issue is not my placement of the cables.

After that, I went through various steps to fix my problem. In addition to most of the steps in the sticky topic, no less than seven times did I remove my motherboard and other components and reinstall everything, only to be met with no display or a working system to give me a glimmer of hope before crushing it by shutting down. And whenever this happened, I would not be able to get a display again unless I refit everything (and sometimes even then it would not work).

The same issue arose when I tried to POST tonight. After installing my system speaker (my manual wasn't clear on what it was and where to install it, and as a first time builder I had no idea), it started to work; I got the long beeps when I tried to boot with no RAM. Then, when I inserted a stick of RAM, it started to beep...and then it shut off. I could not get it to work again, either in the case or when breadboarding.

At this point, I'm at a loss as to what to do. I'm starting to think there's a problem with my motherboard but I honestly have no idea. Thank you very much in advance for any help.

EDIT: my apologies, I forgot to post my specifications!

by removeing the stock mounts for the CPU there is a possibility that you may have needed to make a plastic sheld for the back of the MOBO so the new mounts do not ground the system hence why it worked while lieing down but when you lifted it somthing grounded, and that is that, best case put the board back to gether and send it back for a replacement, worse case the CPU is gone as well, there are safeties on the MOBO to prevent this but shit happens.

and yes, i have done this, so i know how you feel. next time pay close attinion to the tiny parts on the back of the MOBO around the CPU and if there are any parts tuching the new mount go to a hobby lobby or something like it and get a piece of thin plastic and cut it to fit so that there is a piece of nonconductive meteral, between the mount and the MOBO.
