Using normal cpu heatsink on delidded cpu?

Would a normal lga 1366 cooler fit snugly on a Intel Xeon E5520 from a Mac pro which doesnt have a lid like the stock version, and is the mac version going to work in a normal server motherboard?

Just want to be sure before i go out and buy some as they are fairly cheap

The thickness and area of the shim matters, but I have o experience with the size of the heatsink on the Xeon processors you mentioned. Can't help you further, I'm sorry. Try searching on "delidding" and ask on the forums where that is more actively practiced.
