I have a Toshiba Sattelite P50t-A. I am trying to install windows 8.1. I have been trying occasionally for a few weeks now. I have downloaded the update from the windows store for windows 8.1. That seemed to work fine I think. When I come to install it everything seems to run fine until the computer restarts and then gives me the option to reboot with new software I think it says. It says insert driver or software, something along the lines of that. I don't know what to do here. I have restarted it and nothing happens but just ( Cannot update to windows 8.1 we are converting you back to 8) I have also waited for the boot menu to go and the same message comes up. What should I do here? Perhaps I need to re download windows 8.1 as I paused it half way through and feel it may be a damaged file. Other wise I am pretty clueless.

Also do any of you guys out there feel as if a Computer tune software and a cleaning software a necessary for optimal functionality or is there a way for me to learn to do this manually without spending the money on extra software.

A BIG THANk YOU to whoever may reply to this

Starting with your "computer tuneup" software - don't pay for anything of that nature. Usually it is just a scam. They only think I would use would be Malwarebytes for the occasional system virus scan, but if you really wanted something to clear all of your temp, cookie, and browsing history files, then CCleaner would be the way to go. I wouldn't recommend using the "registry cleaner" option (or any registry cleaner at all) as it is unnecessary and can cause more problems. Basically, don't touch your registry at all unless you know exactly what you are doing and why.

As for you other problem, are you getting error codes? Like 0x000000f or something along those lines? Anything that has to do with an error, write it down and post it here. "It says insert driver or software" is not very specific and doesn't help a lot with the troubleshooting process.
